the state library of queensland's third level houses the james hardie library of australian fine arts - donated by james hardie industries limited to the state library as a bicentennial gift to the nation in 1988.   valued at $3 million at the time, it was one of the most significant gifts ever made to an australian library.

this pair of panoramas depicts the library's john reid room which houses a variety of rare books and fine arts, right up to current materials marked for conservation.  the collection is accessible to the public by appointment.
